Yeah, that strip by the door handles, I could live without, the strips that extend from the grille those are needed. They really complete this exercise in Streamline Moderne design.

Yes, and big fan of other straight eights too.
The Chrysler's hood is so long that it really needs to have a long engine. This '46 even has two carburetors to make it look even longer:
